It's been hot and sticky all day with plenty of short showers in the morning and the early part of the afternoon.
With the risk of rain too high to be painting outside impatient as I am to finish the job I settled for indoor tasks. One of which was to carry on sticking more 'gems' to my trainers. (I've just spotted another sheet of gems so I'll probably fill in the gaps and carry on around the back.)
Since my feet are too big for most women's shoes this is the only way I can have fun trainers for disco. My version of 'satin slippers' -
While I waited to see if the rain would clear I went out and cut the high (10ft) parts of the hedge from the garden side. No electric tools this time, just secateurs, loppers and stepladder. It was do-able though of course I shall probably be aching tonight. Then I dug up the two mugwort plants by the path as I think they'll continue to be a nuisance there. Now I need to find something more compact to put in their place. As I sat down with a cup of tea my eye was drawn to half a dozen wayward strands waving out of the top of the hedge so out came the higher stepladder and I chopped them off with the loppers.
I had a brief glimpse of a dolphin fishing on the beach side of the reefs.
It was good to see the sun for a while though the clouds soon began rolling down from the mountains again.
