More Rain.

We had a wet and foggy day with a few spells of lighter rain. It was interesting to see the evaporation fog rising from the sea and later upslope fog locally know as dragon's breath, forming brushing the tops of the hills. (I've been researching the different types of fog on the Met office website.)
I've spent most of the day in the kitchen and this time it has been more successful if time consuming.
First I used my tried and tested cookie recipe and made peanut butter and chocolate cookies. To make them a bit fancier for the choir get-together I made them smaller and pushed a chunk of chocolate into the top of each one. Some will be for Pete too as having eaten the hamper rejects he's been looking wistfully at the rest of the biscuits currently stored in the cupboard.
Then I used yesterday's sweet potato, some tomato and onion base from the freezer and any other vegetables lurking in the fridge to make a hearty soup. It turned out to be a bit more of a winter warmer than I was expecting as I forgot that we have hot and spicy sweet paprika as well as the plain sweet paprika. Pete likes spicy foods but even he had to put a spoonful of plain yoghurt in his soup this evening. There's enough for tomorrow so I'll add more potatoes to calm it down a bit.
I then had a break from cooking and wrapped Christmas presents. All that's left are the hampers which I'll assemble nearer the day.
I ended by making lots of marzipan apples and leaves to go on top of the Christmas Bara Briths. That took a lot longer than expected and I was just finishing off when Pete came home (dripping wet) from playing pool.
