Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Green Man Day.

After overnight rain today was dry and sunny, perfect for Green Man Day. This has been our best Green Man Day ever. Not only were we within walking distance of home but we were even more involved with the day's festivities.
We began by donning high-viz tabards to stop traffic on the main road while the parade made its way out of the pedestrianised High St. and drummed its way round to Pilton St. Peter then went on to man the History group's display in the church hall and at the same time ejected a group of rowdy youngsters who had begun to trash the main hall. I wandered around looking at the stalls and sampling a few home-made goodies. Came to grief with a chocolate brownie when a crown on a metal spike broke loose in my mouth. Thank goodness I didn't swallow it. (Got an appointment with the dentist on Monday.) It did get rather hot and I was glad of my hat complete with circlet of flowers. I was even happier to head for home where I snatched a quick shower and ate a slice of treacle tart bought at a stall with a cup of tea.
Refreshed and changed into concert gear I made my way back to the church to meet the rest of the choir for a warm up before our concert inside the church. We sang for nearly an hour and were well received.  The acoustics of the ancient church made for a good sound. A little more wandering around and home we went to change into clothes for the evening.
Back down the hill we walked to meet up with the rest of the choir ensconced in the Rolle Quay pub. We walked straight in to find everyone singing some of our favourite songs. (This is what generally happens when choir members meet up.) After that a couple of musicians began playing and singing. One had a standard guitar but the other played a bouzouki which gave a real holiday feel to the evening. They played some of their own songs, some traditional Greek songs and some covers which gave us the chance to clap and sing along and eventually to dance, folk dance style. It was with some reluctance that we left the pub to head over to a Chinese restaurant in town. Our table decided to order four lots of a set meal for two. It was described as a feast for two and a feast it certainly was. By the time we got to the last dishes we all felt very full indeed. There was quite a lot of food left so Peter and I asked for a doggy bag and loaded up two boxes with beef and chicken. Nobody else wanted to take any food home (it's not a British tradition).
Having the meal gave us the chance to meet more choir members  and their partners and we all got on really well with much laughter and general banter. This is all part of my cunning plan to encourage Peter to join the choir.
We walked back from town with another couple who live in the next street which gave our meal a bit of time to settle. The only blip in the day, apart from the tooth was when Patch got into our bedroom and stuck his head into a cup of hot water and milk which then spilt on the bed. The bottom sheet and under blanket are now whizzing around in the washing machine.

Sounds like a wonderful day except for your tooth and Patch.
Glad the weather cooperated.
