Very windy today but with the wind blowing from the south-west it wasn't too cold. Even when the wind has a bit of a bite I prefer to keep my study window open. However today I eventually gave in, not because of the cold but because of something else. Just off the Braunton road about a mile from Barnstaple is the tiny village of Ashford. It has an old church, winding lanes and lovely properties on the south facing slope overlooking the estuary. House prices are high but I could never live there. Between the village and the river is the town sewage works and despite the large amounts of money that have been put into addressing the problem it ….. stinks and we catch a whiff when the wind is blowing from there.
Later in the afternoon I walked down to the Co-Op taking a few photos along the way. Peter was planning to make chicken Tikka Marsala and needed a jar of sauce. Normally he cooks from scratch but as Tikka Marsala is not a proper Indian dish it doesn't really matter. He does add lentils and more vegetables to most of his curries. He couldn't go to the shop himself as his Achilles tendon has been painful we think possibly from putting up his shelves using the extra heavy drill.
Somebody has got a nice crop of apples.
These dwarf sunflowers were looking even more cheerful a week or two ago.
The boys' old school where I go for Pilates and the hills on the other side of town.
