Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

A Walk Along the Ystwyth.

It was grey again this morning but that didn't stop me heading off to meet up with my friends for a walk along the Ystwyth river.
We met at the village of Llanilar and began by walking around the Vicarage Lake. There was lots of new growth but no signs of any frog or toad spawn yet.
From there we set off along the old railway line which is now a walking trail which even after all the recent rain was still fairly dry.

We had just crossed a lane when we came to sign on the gate across the path informing us that the trail was closed. As we pondered on what to do a car stopped and the driver told us that part of the path had fallen into the river but that it was still possible to get through that way. Never ones to give up we carried on and sure enough there was plenty of room to walk along the path without any danger of falling in the river. I expect the sign was mostly there to stop anyone making an insurance claim against whoever is responsible for the trail.
We crossed the river and turned back walking through the yard of a stables. It's called Pant Mawr and must be a livery or private establishment because even though they have a schooling arena and jumps all over the fields all I can find on the internet are details for their camp site.
We stopped for our lunch/coffee break at this spot by the river.

We carried on walking beside the river until we came to a small road bridge taking us back to the other side.
Instead of returning to the old railway line we walked across a field on a permitted path (permission to use the path has been given by the landowner but it is not a right of way.) One of our group had been involved in the initial setting up the footpaths, bridleways and cycle tracks in the area and had some interesting stories to tell about the people involved not that I can repeat them here. It was at this point in the walk that we began to see some blue appearing overhead. Just in time for the drive home.
Driving back there was an unusual light on some of the hills as the sun broke through the clouds so I stopped in Clarach and took some photos from the church there. Will put those on tomorrow.
