Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Misty Morning.

If we are lucky the sun may be with us for one more day. As it was the clouds/mist didn't clear out of our garden until mid-day leaving us with a sunny but very windy afternoon with temperatures 10C lower than yesterday. Having spent the morning tidying in the kitchen and clearing all those little piles of paperwork that seem to accumulate on every surface I have made the most of the good weather working out in the garden. I'm hoping that the ponies are taken in from their field soon so that I can have another go at burning up the leylandii before the wet weather sets in for good. Out in the orchard, (grand name for fruit trees growing in the hen run), the apple blossom is hinting at the pink froth that will appear for a short time. The white blossom of the pear trees is already out but apart from a couple of tiny pears I've never had much success with them and even the apples don't do too well. We get plenty of apples on the trees but they don't get a chance to ripen before the autumn gales blow them to the ground. Never mind, the blossom is pretty and the hens eat the windfalls.

Beautiful photo, so full of promise (and scrumptious food for the hens later in the year!).
