Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Fun Nativity Afternoon.

I thought I was getting on well with the photo situation on my pc. I put in the disc that came with the camera, installed etc. but I'm still having to go round the houses. I'm afraid it has not led to marital harmony. I just want to download and view my photos simply ie in the same way I've always done. At the moment it feels like I've bought a new car but have to have a donkey tied on in front to pull it. Then I'm being asked what program I used on the old pc. Duh - 'pictures' is all I know and no I've never installed any program on any previous pc, it's just been there already. (Had an idea, I'm firing up my hardly used school lap-top. Possibly I'll find out the name of the 'pictures' program from there. Aha it's windows photo viewer. Perhaps that will shine a light on the problem.)
Anyway, back to my day. It's been overcast all day with light rain and was the same last night so no chance of seeing the Geminids. This morning I loaded up my car with the last bits of carpet and underlay that had been under the larger furniture to take to the dump. I also had a number of parcels to send so first I drove up to the post office on Sticklepath Hill. Usually it's fairly empty but today there were 6 people in front of me. Eventually I got all my parcels dispatched, drove down to the dump and then to Lidl's. It was only then that I found one more parcel at the bottom of my bag. How annoying is that?
At school I was given free rein to do anything I liked, after phonics of course, with my Year 1 class. I had come prepared so we had a fun afternoon. First I read them a more detailed version of the Christmas Story having already told them we would be having a quiz afterwards. Then I split them into their mixed ability groups and they had to work together to write the answers. Even though I kept reminding them to whisper as they conferred the TA who was working in an adjoining area could hear every single answer. But it was good to see them working together and having to think about the story. Then the groups swapped their answer sheets before marking them. After all that concentration I had paper for drawing, colouring and puzzle sheets for them to do. Usually on Mondays they have a whole school singing assembly in the hall after playtime but this afternoon our music specialist had taken half of the Year 2 children to sing songs at the local old people's home. So we shared out the cards from the class post box and then had a story before sending the children home in the rain.
