We still had a grey outlook today but with a hint of brightness. There is much talk in the news of anticyclonic gloom and the fact that most of the UK has only had 1 hour of sun this month so I think we have got away lightly here. (Note the amazing pun.)
Not having realised yesterday that it was time to get another litre of kefir going I needed to go to the shop to buy a 1 litre bottle of milk as that is the perfect size to make a batch of kefir. Naturally I included a short walk along the beach which for once had a long strip of dry sand.
On my return I chatted to an acquaintance who had been swimming in the sea with a few others. They had been in for 15 minutes and as the sea was about 12C she did admit it had felt a bit cold. That doesn't stop her and the rest of the Badasses going in almost every day of the year - with swimsuits not wetsuits, brr!
Back home I got on with the next of my small projects, repairing my slip-on slippers. Having feet one size, at least, larger than the sizes women's footwear is made in I had been pleased to find these fluffy men's slippers some years ago in Primark and bought two pairs. But of course the quality wasn't the best and having worn out the first pair and moved on to the second the plastic soles soon began to break up leaving bits of plastic around the place. Today's job was to stich on replacement leather soles with thick waxed cotton. The leather came from the smaller seater sofa which I had to cut up before taking to the dump when we were faced with having to pack up quickly when we sold Dingles. (After months of messing around the buyer's solicitors gave us four days to organise the move.) It was such a shame to have to destroy the sofa and we still have the big sofa and armchair in good condition here. But I did keep a large leather panel from the back of the sofa just in case and this is the first time I've used any of it.
I was just about to take a photo when Speedy decided the slippers needed killing.
PS. FB has just posted a photo of our moving van when we left Dingles exactly 7 years ago.

I love seeing Speedy. Tom & I used to smile at your efforts to keep him off the table. He ended up sitting on the radiator really close to the table possibly with one paw still on it!

I'm sure that is exactly where he'll be now that we have started turning on the heating for a bit in the evenings.
