Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Cobwebs.

We've had plenty of sunshine today. Although it doesn't reach the front of the house it shone directly into our bedroom and my study which has been beautifully sunny and warm.
I've sometimes wondered if all my activities are contributing towards my aching knee in the mornings but the knee was still sore this morning despite there not being any disco aerobics this week and doing almost no rising trot in my riding lesson. If it's going to ache either way I may as well continue doing the things that I enjoy plus the more that I can build up the muscles the more I will support my joints.

That said it was nice to realise that I have nothing scheduled until I go to the zoo next Tuesday. Today I ticked off quite a few smaller jobs from my mental list. First I baked a Bara Brith for Pete and some brownies. After having done a taste test the rest of the brownies are now in the freezer. I thought they would go down well after Vytas, Sally and I join the other foolhardy souls for the Boxing Day Dip.
Next I headed out to the garage and oiled the garden chairs that I pressure washed the other day. As I was doing so I noticed a lot of old cobwebs on the aluminium frames which needed cleaning off. The newer chairs only needed wiping but the ones I've had for years required a thorough scrubbing to remove the welded on cobwebs and dirt.
I haven't done much gardening recently due to the weather but today I spent a little time removing blanket weed from the pond. There wasn't that much and the water snails are still are doing their best but I take the blanket weed out when I can as well.

There's even less of the 'falling down' house now. From what I can see they've removed all the ceiling joists from the first floor. I hope this doesn't affect the houses on either side. The photo below was taken in 1927 and shows the three houses and the shingle bank they were built on.
My final job was to put the stuffing back in the plush tortoise that I washed recently. I also changed a patch made from brown velvet with a less contrasting crocheted patch made using green wool. The 2" burnt hole appeared when the tortoise had been in the living room at Dingles where we had a wood burner. I don't think anyone ever revealed exactly what had happened.
