Today was supposed to be the last day of the 'heat wave' we have been having (at least in some parts of the country), so I couldn't not spend the morning outside weeding the scree garden while Vicky and Romas went into town. Later in the afternoon we went for a long walk around Morte Point.
It was low tide so Romas got Vicky a present at Bennet's Mouth. While he went off scrambling over the rocks Vicky and I investigated the rock pools and saw tiny crabs and many shrimps.
The sea was a lovely shade of turquoise (and that's Lundy on the horizon). The air was very clear and we could see the coast and mountains of Wales clearly across the Bristol Channel. It was hot work climbing those hills but (take note Vytas) I was able to march up each of those steep slopes without stopping. Romas of course felt duty bound to run up each and every hill.
The clouds started to roll in as we approached the Point but it was still very warm. We saw about 5 seals in the water. Tonight rain clouds are looming over head and there is the threat of thunder so once more we will need to unplug the PCs in case of a lightening strike.

The thistles in the valley before the second set of steep steps have gone to seed and with great blankets of thistle down around them it is easy to see why they spread so easily.
We returned home hot and feeling truly exercised. The youngsters cooked another tasty meal of chicken fajitas and finally we started moving furniture around in the sitting room so that Fred can start plastering tomorrow. First the walls will be plastered, then papered & painted and then I will wash the carpet before putting the furniture back and hopefully clearing some stuff out. If I can get all that done before the end of the summer holidays I will be happy.
