More rain and more painting. I'm now on the boring job of filling and sanding down the the downstairs doors and frames. They are in quite a poor state and I can't get away with simply slapping paint on top. 
It has rained heavily all day long. The country roads already have twin streams of muddy water running down either side with some places flooded right across. At home I reinstated the temporary dam across the road. It's nothing much, just a piece of wood and some soil but it diverts most of the water into the field instead of down our drive. We can't put any permanent measures in place because both the road and the field belong to our neighbour. There is a drain across the top of our drive but so much water flows down that it goes across the grid and then starts washing away the gravel of our drive.
