Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

And Today ....

 Crisp, sunny and cold today.

It's not unusual to see a single red kite patrolling along the cliff but this morning there was one hunting over the rocks pools which gave me a chance to take some decent photos. There have been reports of dead fish (sadly also a dolphin and a seal in Aber) washed up after the storm so I'm guessing that's what it was looking for.

This was our week for going up to Mach to meet up with our friends and we set off a bit earlier in case of obstructions. On the way we could see piles of logs by the main road from trees that had already been cleared and several times we had to move over to avoid branches that were encroaching on the road. Apart from one garden camellia blown over neither of our friends had suffered any damage from the storm even though Elaine like us lives directly on the coast.
I had a very quick scout around the charity shops and found nothing, as the builder was supposed to be calling round to look at the roof tiles. But you've guessed it, he didn't even though I saw his truck going up the hill when I was walking up from the shop. I had to go to the shop because despite my best plans when I began the afternoon's baking of Christmas biscuits I found I didn't have much icing sugar left. That's one of the good things about living in a village with a well stocked shop, if I run out of something it's only a few minutes walk along the beach to get to the shop.
Today's biscuits were coconut biscuits and butter biscuits. It's the first time I've made coconut biscuits and they were so easy to do. It was handy that I'd bought a bag of desiccated coconut from Lidl the other week. I had an alternative recipe that called for a blob of jam in the middle but I didn't think they would travel so well.

The kite pictures are glorious. Your biscuits look so scrummy. The recipients will be very pleased.
