Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Windy.

There was a hint of sun today though for the most it was hidden behind the clouds. The promised southerly winds haven't yet arrived though surely they must have been powering the large waves that were hitting the rocks with impressive amounts of spray. Here the wind was still blowing from the east and icy cold.
I took advantage of the wind and got some washing out on the line before heading off to the zoo. There it was time to give the buddleia bushes their annual trim. There are six bushes in various enclosures and it took me four and a half hours to cut back last year's growth. Some of the branches went to the goats (pygmy and mountain) who like to chew on the bark as well as eat the emerging leaves. The rest of the branches needed chopping into smaller pieces that I could get in the muck buckets which then get taken up to the compost heap (not by me). There were more visitors around as it's half-term in England. It will be half-term in Wales next week so should be even busier then. Poor Mr P. the peacock is currently shut in an enclosure due to the latest avian flu regulations.
Back home there was no time for a rest. I cooked up some potatoes and other veg to bulk out the remains of the soup which we had for supper, ironed the sheets and did my exercises before going down to the hall for Pilates. Rachel likes to pick a different theme each time and tonight it was all about strengthening our pelvic floors. She assured us that we do exercises for our pelvic floors in the regular class anyway but tonight she went into a lot of detail about all the different muscles and how they attach to the bones especially the spine. She gives us all the names too but I don't remember them now. It was hard work as my lower back is my problem area but I guess that means I need to do more to strengthen those muscles.
