Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Windy.

The sun was still here this morning but there was a nip in the air from the crisp wind. A good day for drying though when I hung the second load out on the line I saw that inland the sky was filled with grey clouds. The wind became stronger in the afternoon and kept those clouds at bay.
I had hoped for a day of gentle gardening but then decided that I should really get on with some pressure washing while the weather was still good. Of course before I could get on with the pressure washing which is quite a fun job there were things to move and dirt to sweep up. The drains at the bottom of the drive also needed clearing at they were almost filled with sand and grit from when the builders did the new render.
Eventually I was ready to give the paving slabs a good clean. Being in a confined space the dirt from between the slabs went everywhere including up into my eye (I forgot to wear safety glasses). The smoother red slabs by the side of the house have cleaned up nicely but looking at the textured slabs by the back door I see that they really need a second going over. I felt a bit guilty at making so much noise with the pressure washer when people were out in their gardens so I took a break half-way to do some ironing. When I started up again I saw my neighbours going off to the beach with the children so I didn't feel so bad.

That's about it for my day but there have been a few local incidents to report. We were asleep but in the early hours of Friday morning there was a big commotion outside our house. Somebody (possibly under the influence of something) was noisily declaring that they were going to jump off the cliff. There were a number of police cars at the scene and it took some time to persuade the person away from the cliff edge.
A second incident happened at almost the same spot yesterday at mid-day when somebody had tried to climb the cliff to avoid the incoming tide. The coastguards were called out and had to abseil down the cliff to rescue this person.
Finally, a 1.5m porbeagle shark was seen swimming close to shore yesterday. Not here but near the pier in Aberystwyth. When the shark almost stranded some members of the public helped guide it back towards the deeper water though this isn't advised as the shark could bite if panicked. Here is a video of the incident.

7.00 in the evening and just seen this on the beach. The mother was also there filming the girl.

Breezes are great for hanging out clothes, but sometimes gets so windy that the clothes keep wrapping around the line. :)
