Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Cloudy.

More rain this morning and lots of clouds. In fact it has been cloudy all day long.
I felt very tired this morning as Peter's snoring had stopped me from falling asleep properly until nearly 4.00. While I was trying to get to sleep I planned my entry for the village scarecrow competition at the end of May. But I won't start making it until the Viking costumes are done. Still I was awake (sort of) at 8.00 and I've kept going through the day.

The first thing I did was to bake a Bara Brith for Peter. I left it in the oven a bit too long as although I set the timer I then went off to do other things and forgot all about it. The next job was to locate the wooden studs behind the insulated plasterboard in the utility room by drilling small holes above the skirting board. My original plan was to have the hooks quite high but with a light switch and sockets on that wall with no doubt the wires running down beside the studs I opted for safety and put the bar lower down. The bar is now up, the exploratory holes filled in and everything given a final coat of paint. Peter went into town and picked up the hooks I'd ordered (and a swede) so that job should be finished tomorrow.
While I was in the garage I spotted the willow twigs I'd left bent into hoops last autumn, hoops for supporting some of the perennials. My experiment was reasonably successful so I used the hoops, and sticks to give the hardy geraniums and the knautia some support. Everything is growing so rapidly now it's hard to see where anything is in the herbaceous beds.
My final job was to work on Peter's armour. Mostly hand sewing and some with the machine too. I've found the easiest way to use my sewing machine is on the floor in the bedroom as that is where the sewing machine is kept. Apart from deciding on the length all the fitting has been done and I've only got the decorative touches to do.
The sun has appeared at last, maybe we'll have an interesting sunset tonight too.
Sunset last night.
