Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Dreaming.

Last night the weather forecast said that Cardigan Bay would have rain all day long but when I got up and went outside with my early morning cuppa this is what greeted me.

As the day progressed it got greyer and cooler and the rain finally arrived late in the afternoon. It's days like this that I find it very hard to motivate myself. It's not cold enough to justify putting the heating on but feels cold when you're not moving around. The house has windows all down the west side plus my study has a second big south facing window so when the sun shines it warms the place up. But not on a day like this.
However I have done stuff, mainly by focussing on those smaller jobs that have been on the to-do list for a while. In the utility room I did some rearranging though it's not quite tidy yet. I also cut a length of wood to make a hook rack, painted the knots with the stuff to stop the sap bleeding through and later gave it an undercoat. Then I got out the sewing machine and took in the sides of the loose top I bought for my 'Viking' tunic. Still on the Viking theme I took out the lining and cut off the sleeves from the faux leather coat I bought and drew up some designs for Peter's leather armour.
With not much else to say about today here is more from yesterday's walk.
This was the route we took and circled is place I didn't talk about yesterday. And what a place! If I had been looking for a renovation project in the hills this would have been it. It was the most stunning location, an utter Shangri La in my opinion.
Okay, it needs a bit of work, or maybe a lot of work but look at the views.....

I took these two photos standing on the far side of the house which was perched above a steep slope which gave views right down to South Wales (above) and turning slightly (below) views across the bog to the sea and along the coast to Borth.

The house itself faces west with several barns that could be garage/workshops.
The land undulated gently around the house with areas of exposed stone for interest. The boggy area in the field indicates a spring of some sort (note I'm being practical). I can but dream, not that I would want to move away from the sea but I think you would have utter peace up here, (plus a lot of rain and wind).

It is lovely to dream of living off grid but the practicalities are awesome ;)
