There were quite a few showers in the morning which eventually cleared to give a sunny afternoon.
It was raining when I got up so I had to have my first cuppa sheltering inside the doorway. Just beyond the long reef was a flock of several hundred birds swirling about. They were too far away to make a clear identification though their they way they held their wings stiffly out to the sides reminded me of puffins. (Unlikely) When I enlarged the photos I saw that they were shearwaters whose Latin name is Puffinus puffinus, hence the resemblance. There were also a few few gannets in with the shearwaters.
"Gannet you are cleared for take-off." Increase speed, undercarriage retracted ...... and we have lift off.
Due to the risk of showers I abandoned my plan to cycle to the Community Gardens for a jumble sale plus cake in aid of a replacement bus shelter and drove instead. (£800 raised already.) I managed to find a knee length purple bohemian style sun dress which looked great with my wellies when I tried it on and also a spare white, round paper lampshade for when one of the ones I have up gets damaged. I chatted to people I knew and did my duty by having a slice of really nice chocolate cake. I stayed until the next shower at which point I drove down to the beach at the far end of the village hoping to get a better photo of some of the seabirds. Which I didn't but later in the afternoon I looked out from the terrace and saw the Little Terns fishing by the reef.
Down to the beach I went and got some decent shots.
Before that I finished the lacing on Peter's costume and attempted to draw on studs with a silver Sharpie. That didn't look right so I've cleaned them off using smelly white spirits and Peter has ordered actual studs for me to use. I also had another go at a FB recipe. Another one I won't be doing again. It was for a chocolate mousse cake using pears, dark chocolate and gelatin. Pears are a fruit I enjoy, I'd treated myself to a bar of 70% dark chocolate and I had some vegan 'gelatin' so I had all the ingredients. It has made a tasty mousse but has a slightly gritty texture from the pears. Odd if you aren't expecting it.
A couple more photos from yesterday.A male orange-tipped butterfly, apparently the female is all white.
Welsh mountain ponies on a Welsh mountain.
