Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Hot.

A very hot day. With open windows the breeze blowing through the house is just perfect.
Sitting outside this morning I was surprised by a skein of Canada geese heading across the bay and over the village towards the wetlands behind.

The fine weather tempted me to cycle to the zoo where I spent four hot hours weeding the large play area. There is still one corner to do which I think will need two sessions to clear completely. After that I'll need to go back to the gravel by the guinea fowl. Much like painting the Forth Bridge the weeding never ends.
Cycling home I got as far as the end of the road along the cliff but decided it was far to hot to attempt the slope. There's no shame in pushing the bike in this weather at my age. Also Pete needs to look at the bike's gears as there is some not right with them. I didn't get the usual click from the lever when I tried to change gear, often it wouldn't change gear and there was a strange clicking from the actual gears. Not surprising as I haven't ridden the bike for a while.

As I sat out on the terrace after a refreshing shower I heard the lifeboat siren as they cleared a way through the crowded beach to get to the water.
Their shout took them to the water off Ynyslas 4 miles away to what looked like two inflatables or kayaks. I'll find out more once they post the details on FB.
Just look at the number of people in the water at Ynyslas. This is a red flag beach where anything beyond paddling is dangerous due to rip currents and suddenly sloping sea floor. But of course there are no wardens to warn people of the danger because the NRW decided they weren't needed.
Out on the terrace I kept to the shade as it was kind of hot in the sun.

It is so sad about the lack of wardens at Ynyslas. I grew up in Aberystwyth and there were often fatalities.
Enjoy your blog so much thank you
