Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

No Longer In The Pink.....

....which is a good thing when it means our house is no longer peachy pink.
At last had come the long awaited day when the weather forecast was for a dry day at the same time as I wasn't busy with one of my regular commitments. It did give a 30% chance of a shower around 3.00 and of course that shower turned up when I had just a tiny amount left to paint.

But by the time I'd drunk a cup of coffee the shower was over and as if to apologise for interrupting my work the sun sent a lovely rainbow. The wall will need a second coat of paint but at least now I know I can reach highest bits with our concertina type ladder. (There's quite a slope to the path.)

And afterwards because these had been my original plan for today I made koldunai, traditional Lithuanian giant ravioli. Labour intensive to make they would have been a way of stretching a small amount of filling (minced meat with onions, soft cheese or mushrooms) to make a filling meal suitable for healthy Lithuanian appetites.
I made one lot with mushrooms and onions spiced up with garlic and Cajun seasoning as part of our traditional non-meat Christmas Eve meal since Vytas and Sally will be with us. As I hardly ever make them it took a while to get the dough right and I think our wine glasses are bigger than the ones I used to use to cut out the circles. So the koldunai are quite generous this time. I also made some with mince and we'll have a few of those tonight before the rest go in the freezer. Traditionally eaten with melted butter they can be hard to digest if over indulged in.

The moon this morning.
