We had a dry and windy morning which tricked me into doing another lot of washing. But the very moment the washing machine pinged to let me know it was finished down came the rain. Not the intermittent showers of yesterday but curtains of rain that hid most of the village from view. That went on for the whole afternoon with the sun not returning until the end of the day and now it's raining again..
I've been back in the kitchen again today making this year's batch of rich tomato and onion base for the freezer. So now the freezer is no longer filled with bags of frozen tomatoes that resemble billiard balls but will soon be home to tubs and pots of sauce that can be used in so many ways. When we left Crete our host gave us a bag of dried oregano most of which has gone in the sauce along with more herbs from the spice rack.
While the sauce was simmering away I worked on my journal notes so that I can write up this summer's events. And then to relax I had some crocheting to do. I crocheted one of the sitting room throws in shades of brown (which match well with the sitting room furniture) many years ago. I now realise that it is quite an awkward size. A little too big to put across my lap but when I fold it in half it's a bit too narrow. It needs another few inches all the way round so that it covers my knees nicely when folded in half. I don't keep a lot of wool and didn't have any in the right tones but I bought a large ball of oatmeal coloured wool in Craft on Friday which matches very well.
And here is a daylight photo of the latest cushion covers. I think they go together very well even though not one fabric has been used on both.
