Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Sunny.

Sometime during the day it turned into a blazing hot day. At work, not only is there the usual end of year chaos as the classrooms are prepared for the following year and every bit of equipment is given its annual wash or wipe but 4 out of the 6 class teachers are moving to different classrooms and year groups. There is a lot of talk of new equipment maybe even furniture for some of the classrooms and nobody wants to inherit tatty equipment.  The children were especially excited today as they could wear red, white and blue as part of the end of WW1 celebrations that are going on around the country.
In the Reception classes we spent a lot of the day practicing our songs and dances which we will be performing to the parents next week. It would be nice to perform out in the playground so we did a combined rehearsal outside. Our Shakira dance is going well as the children have taken turns with the drums and shakers, made from plastic milk bottles, and everyone does the same moves so it isn't crucial where anyone stands. Today I was trying to get them to move with the music all through the song so I was prancing around at the front with exaggerated movements and exhortations to 'shake those hips' and 'keep bouncing your knees'. I'm sure it will be fine when we do it. Being outside was a little distracting for some of the children and it may not be that good weather so we have moved to Plan B , which is sambaing down the main corridoor and performing in the hall. We will have a better sound system that way rather than an extension lead through the window and a CD player.
At 3.30 most of the Reception children went to a disco in the hall. This was run by the PTA but us teachers also needed to be there. The children had the energy to dance for an hour with a snack break in the middle. They all enjoyed themselves and kept forming impromptu conga lines after we had had 2 whole class conga lines, lead by us teachers of course, which took them out into the playground and back again, several times.
Once the children had been safely given back to parents, grandparents etc I took myself off to the Co-Op to pick up some fresh items for the week-end. I got my usual haul of bargains and remembered the clotted cream to go with the scones. A quick tidy up at home and we are now waiting for Sally and Vytas to arrive.
It's 8.15 and Vytas has phoned to say they will be here in about an hour and a half.
