Still a nip in the air but lots of sun accompanied by a moderate breeze.
Today has been one of mainly domestic chores but when 'popping out to get milk' involves a beach walk life can't be bad. The washing was already out on the line since when it has dried, been ironed and put back on the bed. As well as getting milk I had a prescription to collect and I wanted some wooden clothes pegs to take to choir. Why? you may be thinking. Well, my brain has an issue with the coloured plastic clothes pegs that are used to peg up song words. If the pegs on the words facing my way are different colours I find it quite distracting. Everyone has accepted that I help with the pegs to make sure that the colours match. Susie, who runs our choir said it would be fine if I swapped the plastic pegs for plain wooden ones which would solve that problem though I will still help with putting up the words.
There was a lot of energy in the waves today giving some dramatic splashes as they hit the end of the concrete tunnel that drains water from the land on the other side of the road. And also as they hit the uneven contours of the cliff.
My other chores included baking a Bara Brith for Peter. I can resist having a slice of Bara Brith when I'm trying to lose weight but naturally it would be wasteful not to scrape out the mixing bowl once the cake is in the oven. The batter tasted very sweet to me so I may reduce the amount of soft brown sugar next time and see how that tastes.
I managed to get outside as well and took the saw to a holly bush cutting back the branches that were intermingling with the neighbouring hydrangea. There'll be yet another trip to the dump soon.
The beach was almost deserted when I was there. Just two men beach fishing, a couple out with their dog and a few birds. Both the pied wagtail (above) and the rock pipit (below) were not too bothered by my presence as they searched the beach for food.
The tattered state of the flags by the car park show the power of the wind which has eaten them away, one thread at a time so that they have to be replaced each year.
I'm off later to choir and though I'll be driving home in the dark it should still be light on the way there. Since I rarely drive in the dark now it gets a bit stressful on the occasions that I do. Worse if it's raining as well.
