Today we've been on a Murder Mystery Hunt in Lynmouth organised by one of the choir members. In small groups we wandered all over Lynmouth following clues and crossing off names, dates, place names and murder weapons. This involved much wandering up and down scrutinising information boards, property names, dedication plaques and more. Like the one we did last year it took us to corners of Lynmouth that we hadn't been to before. Plus there was lots of chatting and getting to know people a bit better (shame we're off to Wales). Peter came along too but rested his knee after an hour while it took us over two hours and we still didn't find all the things we were searching for. Afterwards over 40 of us, families and friends too, drove up to The Beggars Roost Inn where we settled down in a banqueting hall style room for a light buffet and a bit of a sing. I drove us back along the oh so familiar road home past Blackmoor Gate, the scary Zig-Zag (not so bad in a car but a nightmare in the long wheel base Landrover) and the turning for Dingles. It felt strange to be driving along a road I knew so well from my daily drives in to school. It was a good day and the weather was perfect, not too hot with the rain holding off until we got home.
We got to Lynmouth early so that I had time to look in a few of the many shops and take photos. Today I'm posting photos that show the general ambiance of Lynmouth; people, cars, shops, pubs and tea rooms.
Quite a lot of our hunt was up and down both sides of the East Lyn river, very different from the village centre though only a few minutes walk away. Will post those some of photos tomorrow.
Everywhere was filled with flowers.
The river flows into the harbour.
Looking back across Lynmouth and the putting green.
