Crisp and sunny today.
This afternoon's walk was from the village of Bronant, south of Aber. Being such a lovely day it wasn't surprising that there were 17 of us and Bear the dog on the walk.
A lot of the walk was through lush, green and very wet meadows.
One feature of the walk was the number and variety of stiles we had to climb over. All bar one were in a state of disrepair possibly due to the very wet ground causing one component or the other to succumb to rot. For many it was a case of the lower step having one or both of the uprights no longer fixed to the ground creating a see-saw effect. Here you can see one of the group holding one end down so that the next person didn't get catapulted over the top. In other cases the whole structure swayed and/or was slippery. To add to the fun the bridge below had a stile at either end. Also because we were walking through sheep fields the spaces between beams had sheep (wire) fencing so Bear had to be lifted up and over the stiles.
The stepping stones at this ford were pretty slippery so walking poles were used to give some stability.
These happy pigs living in a large field came running over to see us and were very interested in Bear who wasn't sure what to make of them.
We found some handy pallets to sit on to eat our lunch. F who grows all sorts of interesting things brought along some Chilean Guava berries (strawberry myrtle) for us to try. They were very tasty and I might even consider planting a bush in the back garden.
Signs of autumn everywhere.
I saw this deadfall fence and thought of fellow blogger K.
As we arrived back at the village we walked past an old chapel. A sad looking place with broken windows some of which had been boarded up. There were some very grand memorials in the tiny graveyard.
A pleasant afternoon's walk with friends but my heart really lies in the wild country.

A wonderful walk.
We had two of those chestnut trees in our yard when I was a kid!! I stepped many times on the prickly pods in bare feet!!
We used to eat the nuts raw.
