Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

The Last Day of Term.

It was dress up day at school today for the children and the adults. We had a fun assembly where all the children showed off their outfits. Most were 'bought' but there were some very creative home made costumes as well.

It took one little boy's Dad and Grandad 15 days to make this Dalek out of cereal packets and bits. It was a good thing it wasn't raining as he walked all the way to school in it, I expect he will be entering some of the local carnivals wearing it.
All the staff were forced to stand at the front and sing The Twelve Days of Christmas. We hammed it up and got our own back on the Head by leaving her with the 1st day which had to be sung 12 times. The children thought it was highly amusing.

Having survived the children's Christmas dinner on Tuesday we always chip in and have a buffet lunch up in the staff room and give out the Secret Santa presents.
That's me being silly dressed as Puss-in-Boots.

While we were eating our lunch this squirrel was scampering about in the trees next to the staff room. Last year I taught in a classroom right by the trees and our bird table was occasionally visited by the squirrels.
When not being silly with the children I managed to sort out and amend the overview for next term and the planning for the first week. I stayed out of the classroom while the children were there as it was an emotional time of saying goodbye for Claire as they will all have moved up a class by the time she returns. Also one of the children with special needs is moving out of the county and saying goodbye to her was especially hard as she has the sweetest nature. After the children had gone I went down and started backing some of the display boards as they looked messy once all the work had been taken down and I don't want to have to go into school during the holidays.

Looks like a lot of effort went into those costumes. I laughed out loud at the Head having to sing the 12 times! Very sneeky, but fun.

Wow those costumes are amazing! Good on you for getting into the swing of it too and looks like you had a great time. LOVE that photo of the squirrel - just got off the phone to my Mum and Dad and they were describing a squirrel in their gardening stuffing itself silly on a seed/fat ball (for the birds!)!

I haven't had to do the dress-up thing with Charli yet - as she's totally not into it - but I know Sophie will LOVE it when her time comes (she frequently has the face paints out over the breakfast table!).
