Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Squally.

The forecast this morning was for sudden heavy showers with the possibility of thunderstorms and that is exactly what we got including hailstones. During the worst of the squalls we could hardly see the sea at the bottom of the garden. There have been a few dry moments and occasional flash of sun but for the most part it has been very wet.
Today we made a start on putting up the shelves. In the end we only got the first shelf up but we knew it was going to be the hardest bit to do. For a start the floor isn't quite level so the uprights below the shelf had to be individually measured and cut and have now had their final coat of paint. Then the wall itself isn't flat so we couldn't take the easy option of screwing the brackets to the shelf first. Instead I had to put those screws in by touch using an extra stumpy screwdriver and pressing the shelf down with my forehead. Isn't that how everyone does it? But it's done and in theory the rest of the assembly should be much easier.
I managed to get all my other daily routines completed and during a dry spell potted up a dozen cherry tomato seedlings and three spaghetti squash plants.
And now for the rest of yesterday's walk -
Coming away from the pretty valley we crossed over the main coast road to the fields beyond.
As well as celandines the primroses are beginning to appear in the hedgerows.
After our lunch stop we continued on along footpaths until we were back to the lanes.

Plenty of spring lambs around now.
We ventured a little way up a drive to check out these mushrooms made from recycled woks. The final leg of our walk took us back through the flower filled valley to the main road where we had parked.
