Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

A Warm Autumn Day.

I don't know if I'm more focused on looking for good photographic opportunities but it seems that this year the autumn is full of lots of lovely golds and oranges. This Beech tree in the garden normally has deep purple leaves but at the moment it is a glowing golden colour.

It was good news about Obama becoming president but I'm cynical about politicians. They'll say anything to get your vote and once they're in power the situation seems to change. They may even have good initial intentions but then so many compromises are made. We'll see.
Despite being overcast it was very mild today. I got out in the garden and did several hours clearing an untidy patch by the side of the drive. Years ago part of a retaining wall fell down and the insurance people refused to pay up so it had been left while we thought about what to do with the drive. Now that we're only going to put down more gravel next spring it's time to tidy up the fallen wall. The afternoon was spent at school putting even more glue on tissue paper, and we haven't got into the Christmas art frenzy yet.
