Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Warm.

A cloudy and warm day today.
We were eating breakfast when Peter spotted a dolphin lazily swimming nearby. Naturally I rushed out on to the terrace and was rewarded by the sight of the dolphin slowly surfacing  several times. A walker was going by on the road so I told him about the dolphin and fortunately he did get a sighting. Then I went back for my camera and tried to get a decent photo from out on the cliff but only caught a glimpse of its fin.
After breakfast we put up the next panel, the last one for the moment which I'm sure Peter is relieved to hear. The uneven wall and the cluttered garden have given us plenty of problems but we got there in the end.
Then while Peter went off to row I carried on working in the back garden mainly rebuilding the back of the old raised bed with blocks and bricks. It's been quite time consuming.
Today is exactly one year since we moved here and what a year it has been.
While half our belongings are still in boxes a lot has been achieved -
To begin with was actually getting here despite all the problems caused by the pandemic. Other things achieved are-
having the bay window removed and replaced with French doors,
new front door,
chimney stack taken down,
the utility room turned from a windowless shell to a fully decorated (we won't dwell on the terrible tiling) utility room,
my study plastered, decorated and floored,
the separate toilet tiled, decorated and new fittings installed,
brand new kitchen,
garage re-roofed,
kitchen re-roofed,
blinds, curtain rails and curtains put up in most of the rooms,
front garden tamed and prepared for raised beds,
collapsing fence replaced in back garden, raised beds built and trellis put up,
wall around the French Doors prepared for re-rendering,
and finally the loft double insulated and floored and loft hatch replaced.
Hopefully by this time next year everything else will have been completed and we will be able to spend more time exploring the area and getting to know more people.
