The day began quite cloudy but then became beautifully sunny.
As promised, some cute photos from this afternoon's walk.
These two are rescue donkeys that we passed at the beginning of our walk. They posed nicely for photos and then came up to the fence to say hello. Right by the sign that said 'Please do not feed the donkeys' because as anyone who works with horses and donkeys knows, casual feeding of treats will lead to them biting anyone who turns up without a treat.
We met up in Tal Y Bont and then piled into a couple of cars to drive about a mile to the side of a hill overlooking the bog (Cors Fochno /Pig Bog) where we had far reaching views back up the Dyfi river,
and out to Ynyslas and Aberdyfi beyond.
It was a gentle walk of about 4 miles (the person with the milage app wasn't with us today) mainly along a grassy bridlepath and some footpaths. As well as the donkeys we passed lots of sheep with young lambs in the fields above the bog. The air was filled with the sounds of the shrill bleating of the lambs and the lower calls of the ewes. A sure sign of spring.
Plenty of birdsong too as we ambled our way along. And conversations, there were 15 of us today and it seems like everyone has such interesting things to talk about. I'm finding that in each of my various activities there are at least two or three people who are also in another as well. Today there was one person from the choir, another who has begun aerobics and two who are in the rowing club (though that's really Peter's activity).
We stopped to eat our lunch in a field overlooking the backs of the buildings strung out along Borth High st.
From there we headed back though a little higher up the hill than on the outward leg. Usually everything is new to me but as we walked past some farm buildings I suddenly realised we had passed that way before on a recent walk. On the very last section the footpath went through the front yard of a group of farm buildings which included several cottages and a holiday chalet (identical to the ones in the local holiday parks). It's quite common to have a right of way through a farmyard or even a road running between the house and farm buildings. However it was unusual to pass right by a hot tub with a group of people enjoying the tub with music and drinks. They may well have been there for a holiday or just the farmer's family enjoying the sunny afternoon.
It is nearly half-term here and as I drove home through the village there were so many people around either on holiday or just to enjoy the beautiful pink sunset. We watched the first kayaker going far out on the calm sea to watch the setting sun (and return safely).
Duo Lingo has been done and we're about to watch Dancing on Ice. It's been a good day.
