Windy, wet and remarkably warm today.
We sang at two venues this afternoon. The first was a Community Hub (not the one in Borth.) where they were having a Christmas Lunch cooked and served by students from the local college. We were all presented with wrapped gifts and also flowers which we unanimously said our choir leader should have.
From there we went back to Aber to sing in an assisted care scheme.
I hadn't been to this part of town before so it was interesting to see this dramatic setting right next to the harbour and marina.
(Photos from the web.) Maes Y Mor is not a care home but has one and two bedroom flats for people needing extra support. The flats have their own small kitchens but the very reasonable fees include a three course dinner plus drinks and snacks. It was like the smartest hotel I've been in and we were all wowed by the place. While the majority of the residents are older there are also younger people there which makes for a better mix.
We stood in the corner of the dinning room to sing. When we first arrived we had tea or coffee and again afterwards along with tasty pastries made by their chef. At both venues our audiences were encouraged to join in and it was lovely to see people joining in in both languages.
This was the view from the glass doors behind us. There is a sitting room above with the same view. Most of us asked if we could put our names down for a place there in the future but you do have to need extra care to qualify.
Afterwards I stopped at Lidl to pick up some mince pies for Peter to take along to the mens' shed tomorrow and at the same time I stocked up on vegetables. Now for a quiet evening at home before the last set of carols tomorrow.
