Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Wintry Showers.

It's been a day of snow and rainbows.
We woke this morning to the sight of snow covered hills. (Somebody posted a late night photo of snow on the beach.) Surpisingly there was less condensation on the inside of our windows than there has been in recent days indicating it wasn't as cold outside.
Later showers began to melt the snow from the hills until the showers themselves began to drop more snow and by the end of the day the hills were looking white again. And with the showers came frequent rainbows and wonderful sea and sky colours. The bad weather caused Peter's row to be cancelled and tomorrow's walk has also been cancelled.
My day has been spent in the kitchen working with chocolate again. I've more or less got the dipping down to a T having found the perfect saucepan and bowl combination for melting the chocolate and worked out a two fork method of getting the truffles into the melted chocolate and out again. While the centres are all the same I created some variety by using plain or milk chococlate while others had chopped nuts or popping candy sprinkled over the top. I used up the remaining melted chocolate to make chocolate covered marzipan in the sweet moulds. They worked really well and I even made some milk chocolate 'Gingerbread men' with white chocolate details. The white chocolate was from dipping the Lebkuchen heart biscuits which have also been done.

More rainbows- they tend to be lighter in the photos than in reality. One of them, I think the bottom one, had its foot in the rocks right at the bottom of the cliff.
