Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Dry.

It wasn't raining today ...... hooray! And the sky was blue .... double hooray!
We planned to go for a walk but first there were a number of little things to do around the house as friends are coming to stay tomorrow. I took the opportunity to shake out the plastic dust sheets before putting them away. The wind lifted the sheets high into the air where they billowed out like crazy kites reaching right across the yard. It was such fun, well it amused me anyway. Eventually the jobs were done (and Peter found out that cleaning the family bathroom which he uses as a dressing room, is quite hard work,) and off we went to Morthoe. As we drove there we saw the air ambulance helicopter heading out towards .... Wales? Bristol? Lundy? Walking down the road to the path which runs out to the coast we saw a paramedic's car parked in the narrow road. Oh dear, we thought, someone must have overdone the New Year's celebrations. But then a coastguard vehicle came rushing down, parked up and the cliff rescue people set off down the path with their equipment. That's when we realised that someone must have had an accident out on the cliff path. We soon met some walkers who told us that a man had broken his ankle out on the path. Not a nice end to his holiday.
In places the path was extremely slippery so we walked very carefully. It wasn't long before we passed the unfortunate walker who had broken his ankle. He was surrounded by medics from the air ambulance and the cliff rescue people but I thought it too intrusive to take any photos.
Further along the path we could see the air ambulance waiting on a flattish patch of grass.
Down on the sands of Rockham Bay someone had written New Year's greetings.
The wind was quite cold and fierce but I soon warmed up with the unaccustomed exercise.
We were walking in the reverse direction to our usual walk so for once we had to go down the Unending Stairs which felt strange.
The final leg of our journey was back along the road that leads out to Bull Point lighthouse where we watched the sun going down behind Morte Point.

Too bad about the mans ankle.
It always feels strange to walk a route in the opposite way!
Glad you had a sunny day. We had another cloudy day.
Happy New Year!
