Lots of clouds but plenty of blue sky too and it was nice and warm in the afternoon.
As we ate our breakfast we could see our neighbour out in his kayak with Muffin the dog sitting quietly at the front. The rest of the family were watching from the cliff with his little girl shouting 'I love you Daddy.'
After breakfast we got on with the next stage of the shelf project, fixing battens to the wall. As the floor isn't level there was a lot of squinting at the spirit level so that things don't slide off the shelves. Because there's a live electric wire running down part of the wall there was gluing as well as drilling holes for rawl plugs. But the battens are on and all the shelves cut so progress has been made. Peter also sorted out the tv cable that was hanging down in front of the window. I steadied the ladder and handed up tools, sort of a magician's assistant type of role.
The diy done I was able to escape to the warmth of the garden and demolished the rest of the leaning raised bed. I chose to do it myself to minimise the damage to the nearby plants. Then I moved round to the back garden and laid out paving slabs. Still not sure if I'll cement them down or not. After that there was time to sit out on the terrace with Peter enjoying the sun and watching the happy holidaymakers on the beach before ironing the washing which had been drying on the line.
You'd think our government's behaviour couldn't get worse but yesterday they announced plans for single male illegal immigrants to be deported to Rwanda. We're going to pay the Rwandan government to 'look after' them and even if they are found to qualify for immigration that will be to Rwanda not the UK. This has been condemed by organisations world wide and even the civil service are saying that the costs are unknown. But then again this is probably a desparate attempt to divert attention away from our PM's law breaking and lies to Parliament and everyone else.
