Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Roasting.

Hotter still. This was the temperature in the afternoon. Out in the back garden where there was no breeze I felt I couldn't breathe it was so hot. The sea breeze blowing through the house has kept everything comfortable though up in the loft it is still very hot.
Apart from a foray out to oil the outdoor table and chairs I stayed inside. It's helped that I didn't get a chance to sit down until 6.00 by which time it was cooler as the wind had picked up and the sea which had been as flat as a pancake had become quite choppy. Listening to the news I hear that a drought has been declared in parts of England. It's wetter in Wales, especially over the mountains though we did have rain last week. I'm just happy to enjoy the warmth while we have it. Also, good point - the water company was never privatised and still beolngs to the people. None of the siphoning off of the profits to line 'shareholders' pockets instead they are used to maintain the infrastructure.
First thing Peter filled the car up with all the bags of garden waste and took them off to the dump and then he went and did the shopping at Morrisons as well. We've got friends coming to visit tomorrow so today has been spent preparing some food and doing all the little bits of tidying that only come to light when you know somebody is coming to visit.
We saw the lifeboat go out in the afternoon on a shout not just training. Update - a child in an inflatable of some sort was being swept out to sea at Aberdyfi, the father has tried swimming after it but couldn't keep up (it's only safe to paddle at Aberdyfi due to the pull from the river.) so our lifeboat was called out to pick up the child which they did. Peter's row a bit later on was nearly cancelled as the guy who is in charge of the rowing boats was one of the lifeboat crew. Fortunately after a safe rescue of the child the lifeboat returned in time for the club row. Look at all those pale bodies about to get frazzled in the unacustomed sun.
Speedy has been sleeping all day and then turned up his nose at his dinner which is unusual for him. I've covered his food over and he can eat it later. He's become more picky about his food anyway. If I give him a full portion of his tinned evening meal he licks up all the gravy and ignores the meat. So I only give him a small potion to start with and when he looks up as if to say 'can I have some more of the nice stuff?' I tell him to eat up and he does. Only then does he get more food.
