Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Visitors.

It has been as hot again today.
Photo taken at 7pm.
Although I've been hearing about drought conditions in other parts of the UK the extent and severity of the situation only struck home when I looked at these two satellite photos of the UK, one taken a year ago and one taken yesterday. It's pretty shocking.
It's been a really nice day for us as our friends came up to spend the day with us. It was so good to catch up after not seeing each other for a number of years. For once it was almost too hot and we had to abandon our plans for a walk at Ynyslas. Instead we had both lunch and tea out on the terrace keeping to the shade and enjoying what little breeze there was. One of our friends went down to the very crowded beach for a swim but I'm afraid the rest of us sat on the terrace and watched through binoculars. Earlier we had seen the lifeboat going out again and I've just read that this time it was for an inflatable crocdile which had been blown out to sea. Funny as it sounds there's always the possibility that somebody could have been with it but in this case it was just an escaping croc.
Phew, things have gone quiet after what seemed like a scene from 'The Birds' as hundreds (or so it sounded) of rooks, seagulls and other assorted birds circled overhead. I think one of the neighbours likes to feed the birds. Luckily we've not had any trouble from seagulls when we've been eating outside or words might be said as they are a real nuisance in places like St Ives and Lynmouth.
