Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Grey.

Nothing but grey today. Usually cloud cover means it's not so cold but today it felt cold and clammy. Typical January weather. However for those motivated to go outside it wasn't quite that bad. I went out and weeded the plant pots and raised beds in the back garden. The weeds looked innocuous with their leaves no bigger than pin heads and thread-like stems and roots but left alone they would quickly grow into full sized weeds.
Oops, Speedy was washing himself on my windowsill and I spotted a bare pink patch with a red sore under one foot. He's now sporting a pink collar with bell and a plastic cone of shame. Don't really fancy paying £50 to the vet for that. He immediately rolled around on the floor and pulled it off so it's back on with the collar done up more tightly.
The rubbish collection story (not exciting enough to be a saga) continues. Yesterday I looked once more at the leaflet we had all been given which showed that our next bin collection will be next Tuesday as per normal. To double check I looked on-line and that confirmed what the leaflet said. I then removed the interloping bin bag from our bin and rolled our wheelie bin back to the bin store in the front garden. I was putting out some kitchen rubbish this morning when a bin lorry appeared. It wasn't a wheelie bin lorry or our regular recycling lorry which had been yesterday so I  waited to see what it was collecting. It turned out they were collecting the cardboard for recycling. With Christmas there must have been too much cardboard for the regular collection and they'd sent out the lorry that picks up the cardboard from business premises.

We have no trash collection here at the new house. We have to take it to the collection place.
