Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Muggy.

There's been a change in the weather today. The wind is now coming from the south-east bringing warm air and a lot of heaviness to the air. At school almost everyone was feeling muzzy and headachey and by lunchtime one poor teacher started getting a migraine complete with flashing lights. We don't have many teaching assistants on a Friday afternoon but with a little re-arranging of the lesson plans I was able to free up the teaching assistant who normally works with me. She then took over the sick teacher's class with a final swap with another teaching assistant right at the end of the day so that she could come back to my class to match up the children with their mum/granny/dad etc so that every child went home with the right adult. I didn't have a headache but my sinuses are bad at the moment and the weather isn't helping. I stayed at school until 5.00 working with another teacher to get things ready for next week in the the reception classes. By the time I got home I was washed out. Peter was already home and we decided to go down to the beach cafe for a Sri Lankan curry.
At the beach the light breeze made it feel much less oppressive, there weren't too many people around and curry was being served.
There are only 4 tables or you can take your food on to the beach itself. When we left a group of about 20 youngish people had spread out their blankets on the sand for their curry meal.
Being a bit older and less flexible we prefer to sit at a table. A young couple came and joined us at the table with their 8 week old baby in a buggy.
Afterwards we strolled about on the beach, collected shells for school and listened to the soothing sound of the occasional waves. A group came down to do some kayaking and soon disappeared from sight. (Round the corner rather than straight down!)
Eventually we dragged ourselves away from the calm of the beach and the lumpy clouds (if this had been a disaster film a waterspout would have come spiraling out of those clouds,), and headed home.
When we got home we found this pipistrelle bat clinging to the wall of the house. I shut the cats in the conservatory as they are inveterate hunters and gently got the bat to cling on to a duster. It didn't seem damaged so I left it in the open fronted wood shed. It climbed on to the wood but once it got dark and it was still there I brought it inside and currently it is in a box in the bathroom with a little water and some soggy soaked cat food. There is a local group who do bat rescue that I can get in touch with if it is still in the same state tomorrow morning.
I'm off now to unplug the pcs as the forecast was for thunderstorms.

Sounds like a good thing to do after a hot day at school.
Hope your weather is cooler tomorrow and hope the bat recovers.
