Wild and windy again with almost no rain and a sunny afternoon.
The builders were back. First there were a few snaggings to do; the bathroom extractor fan comes on when you turn the light on and then keeps going for a while when the light is switched off. The first fan just kept on running, all weekend and it is noisy so yesterday it was taken back and a new one fitted. This one had adjustable times but although it had been set for 5 minutes it kept going for nearly 15. It's now on the lowest setting which is 5 minutes. A few other small things and then on to the next project.
And here is my longed for splashback. It is a shade or so darker than the sample but I'm still very happy with it. During the day light is reflected off the glossy surface and you can even see the sea.
In our bedroom the rejuvenation pod/shower has finally been removed. I forgot to take a photo before he removed the glass door and put it to one side. The shower tray was so firmly fixed in place it had to be broken out but I've offered the door and the shower for free on the local FB swap/selling pages. It seems a shame to throw out good quality stuff and either could be useful for somebody doing up a place on a tight budget.
And this is how it looks now. The edges tidied up, the top doors prised open, a shelf made and two hanging rails put up. I've just washed it all down so that I can stack the storage tubs in there temporarily as tomorrow the remaining two skirting boards will be put in place. Ever since we moved in two long boards have been lying on the bedroom floor. Apart from having to fit them around two sets of radiator pipes on one wall our very heavy bed needs to be moved as the wall there also needs a board. Don't ask me why the original builder didn't put them up? Once the skirting boards are up we can go ahead with getting a carpet.
Had a slight problem this evening with the electrics. Peter was out meeting D about rowing club business so I thought I'd turn on the outside light to put some light on the terrace steps. Only to hear a click and have half the lights and some of the wall sockets go off. We have a big circuit board with lots of breakers but I couldn't see what was out of place. Peter was able to fix it when he got home but he thinks that a circuit must be overloaded.
Also why is it that every time technology gets updated it adds more steps to what were simple actions? Blogger must have updated the way to upload photos and now I'm having to do them one at a time instead of collecting the whole lot into a box and then putting them on the blog in one go.
