Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Drizzly.

It was the first day back at work today. It was rather a shock, not only to have wake up at 6.00 but to look out of the window and see that it was DARK. Luckily today, and tomorrow, are non-pupil days so things were more relaxed.
After our usual exchange of holiday news we started with our team-building activity, a cooking challenge. Having been asked to bring in 2 of our favourite ingredients we were put in teams of 3 or 4 to come up with a dish for a shared lunch. In our team we had cous-cous, bacon, tuna, peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes & onions and there were some extra ingredients available. We made a medley of cous-cous salads; Fat-Free Spanish style (olives, tomatoes, button mushrooms, red onion with lemon & herbs), Bacon Sizzler (crispy bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes & olive oil), Tasty Tuna (tuna, red onions, red pepper & herbs) and Fiery Feast (cherry tomatoes, red & green peppers, olives, garlic, chili pepper flakes & red onion). Between us all we came up with a delicious looking lunch which included chili-con-carne, sausage dishes, chicken & pasta, apple pie, tarts and salads. Once we had all eaten we were about to go round the group saying which ingredients we had brought along when someone suggested we turned it into a memory game. Not only did we have to remember all the previous items but we added actions some of which were not so much Makaton but simply rude. All good fun.
In the afternoon we had to go along to another school for a 2 hour presentation on 'Appraisal and Performance Management'.  Didn't see much new apart from having the previous maximum of 3 lesson observations a year now being changed to no maximum so you can be observed even more often. And the standards which we must comply with have been reduced from 44 standards to .......... 43 standards. I better start studying so that I can quote each standard and say confidently how I achieve these standards.
The sun that had been promised did not appear until 6.00 pm so once again the grass is too wet to cut. We need a good 2 dry days so that the wet grass does not clog up the lawnmower
