Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Sun!

Contrary to my expectations it was a bright sunny day today. I was torn between sitting out in the sun imagining I was on an exotic foreign holiday, getting on with the gardening or doing more work in the bedroom. Naturally I ended up doing all 3. Towards the bedroom spring clean I put one of the wardrobe curtains in the washing machine and washed down another section of wall. This included cleaning the 2 swords that hang there. Yes, this nature loving gentle person takes great pleasure in having Sting and Anduril on display. Out in the garden I tackled the White Cockade climbing rose. It is not as vigorous as the Mme Alfred Carrier so does not need a hard prune each year but every now and again I realise that there is a real danger of poking an eye out on the overhanging branches and I tie it back to the wall and prune lightly. My tidying of that corner of the front garden included cutting back last year's fennel stalks and sorting out the cane wigwam which is meant to keep it all tidy. Usually I do this in a rush when I see 4ft of fennel sprawling all over the other flowers so I am quite pleased to have done this in readiness for the new growth. I did a few other small jobs and still had time to sit and enjoy the sun once I had found a spot out of the wind. This evening I ironed the curtain and watched Harry Potter - The Half Blood Prince. We only go to the cinema for special films and are happy to wait for the rest to appear on tv and somehow we hadn't seen this one. I get a bit confused over which HP films I've seen, books I've read and narrated books I've listened to but the films are always fun to watch. Due to the tides Peter went out rowing in the middle of the day. They had taken the gig down to Appledore for some proper sea rowing and as some people couldn't come Peter got 2 rows in. He did enjoy it but was quite tired when he got home. I'm now a member of the club so will be offered social rowing but I've told Peter I only intend to row if it is sunny and not too early in the morning, oh and I don't want to get my feet wet. I do need to do some exercise so it might be good for me.
PS What in this post cause an ad for Care homes to appear? Sitting in the sun perhaps? No, it was admitting that I get confused.
