Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Rayburn Day.

Despite a poor night's sleep I was up fairly early to get the house ready for another viewing. It was only a few minutes before the time of the appointment that I thought to check the answerphone. And there was a message to say that they viewing wasn't going to happen at least not today. Never mind, at least the house is now extra clean and tidy.
Later 2 men came to do things to the rayburn. It was finally burning well but we want to make sure that we don't leave any problems for future owners. They stayed all afternoon and were still here when Peter got back from work so they were able to swap technical details. One thing they found was that 2 filters were missing from the thingys by the tank. Peter knows which firm was responsible for that (they came some years ago) but the guy we had in last week should have checked the tank. We shan't be recommending him to anybody. The rayburn is up and running now but the temperature gauge doesn't seem to be going up. Watch this space. Note sleeping cats who don't mind any amount of noise.
We've had a lot of drizzle today but while the men were working in the kitchen I was able to do some lady-like dead-heading of the snow-in-summer. It's nearly finished flowering but other flowers are making an appearance.
The sun came out very briefly and then strangely it was sunny and raining at the same time. I did a little more weeding later on and found yet another hardy geranium - Roxanne, so I moved some of it to the propagating beds. I think that makes 14 varieties ready to take with me when we move.
