Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Sunny.

It may be the first day of autumn but the sun has shone all day. Most of the time it was hot but it did feel colder out of the sun. Today we had the surveyor come to make a survey of the place on behalf of the prospective buyers. He was very efficient taking nearly four hours looking into every corner. There were lots of questions to answer too and the folder containing all the guarantees, service histories etc. proved invaluable. Now we have to wait to see if the buyers use the results of the survey to try and push the price down though as we were aware of all the things that could be upgraded we had already taken those into account. Not much we can do on that side of things except wait. If it doesn't work out then we simply wait for another buyer. Meanwhile I shall continue disposing, sorting and packing. I'm getting even better at letting things go especially when they can raise funds for a good cause.
I find it incredibly hard to settle to anything when we have people 'doing' things in the house but as it was so nice outside I was able to dead head the santolina bushes growing in the wall by the yard. That's one autumn job ticked off at least.
We went to sit in the sun a little earlier today, partly because we could lose the good weather any day and also to relax after the survey. Speedy likes to join us when we sit outside but this afternoon he disgraced himself in my eyes by eating a grasshopper. The sedums are beginning to open their flowers which the honey bees and a Small Copper butterfly have discovered. One of the swallow families is still around and instead of the air being filled with their chattering there was the plaintive mewling of a buzzard. We've been hearing the owls again at night too.
