Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Wet.

Our neighbours were very lucky with the weather for their party yesterday. Blue skies and non-stop sun compared to today's grey skies and constant rain.
My afternoon has been spent sewing or to be more accurate altering one of my bra-tops, a more comfortable alternative to a standard bra especially when you've got an inflammation of the rib cartilage (If only I was liberated or confident enough to do without. Don't most women remove their bras with sighs of relief when they get home?) My current alterations are to add stronger elastic, without being too tight, around the middle to prevent the general 'heading south' that increrasing years bring. I think if anybody was to invent a really comfortable bra they'd become an instant millionaire.
The latest covid issue seems to be the wearing, or not, of face coverings. At the moment it's mandatory on public transport but optional in shops in England and Wales and mandatory in Scotland. You can be requested to wear a mask in other places such as hospitals but there aren't any clear guidelines. Especially from the govt. And people are such babies - a woman interviewed on the radio getting off a bus said 'it was so hard, I really couldn't breathe.' What a load of rubbish, there are enough posts on FB showing no decrease in oxygen saturation after wearing not just one but several masks of varying sorts. The loops behind the ears can get uncomfortable but it is possible to alter the ties or use clips to alleviate that problem. One bit of bad news, scientific studies show that immunity from having covid decreases quite rapidly.
Couple of positive things here, the freezer seems to be perking up and the plasterer has skimmed the walls though the ceilings haven't been done yet. We all thought the ceilings had expertly swirled plaster but now it looks as if it's just textured wallpaper. I'm hoping getting that off is cheaper than skimming the ceilings. In a way it's sad that we're undoing many of the improvements made by Chick and his friends when they moved in 30 years ago. Textured wallpaper, wash basins in the bedrooms, yellow bathroom suite & tiles, curved arches over doorways, fake wood panneling on the walls and the numeroud lean-to's and covered over walkways. No doubt future owners will reel in horror at our laminate wood floors and plain white walls.
