Welcome to family, friends and visitors. Here you will find interesting (hopefully) pictures of my part of the world, news of our household and probably, long ramblings about anything that catches my interest.

Sunny.

This was us 40 years ago! How young and sweet we looked. We don't go in for big celebrations but we've had a lovely day together with the sun shining down on us. After a relaxed morning with cards, chocs etc we took ourselves off to Lynmouth once more.
This time the tide was out giving a different view of the beach and harbour. The air was very clear and we could see across to Swansea on the Welsh coast .
For us, eating fresh fish and chips at the end of the harbour wall (making sure we didn't lose any to the seagulls) was as nice if not nicer than a formal restaurant meal. Then it was time for a little more browsing of the tasteful shops. Some filming was going on in the little street (a family group walking along and looking in some of the shop windows) and we were requested not to walk into shot so we cut through the art gallery and came out on the sea front. The professional  camera rig is just in front of the guy with a black t-shirt. I have no idea if this was just a small production and I certainly wouldn't recognise 99% of any film actors (apart from  LOTR actors) anyway.
Then we drove to the Valley of the Rocks for a long expressed dream of mine to be fulfilled - coffee and Lindsay's cheesecake on top of Castle Rock.
As it was sunny and the weekend there were a fair number of people around but not so many go up Castle Rock and most people take a few photos and go back down again.
We found a sunny spot to sit complete with a rock to lean against and stunning sea views on either side.
It's hard to get the scale of things but the grey strip is the road and the hill beyond is 316m (over 1,000 ft, I checked on my OS map). No wonder the people at the top looked tiny.
Eventually we prised ourselves off our sunny rock and drove home through the beautiful Exmoor countryside. (Exmoor like Dartmoor includes farmland as well as proper moorland.) Now my hair is washed for work tomorrow and there is another piece of cheesecake in the fridge (Peter couldn't decide which to get) for me to enjoy while we watch Strictly.
